I am kicking myself for not being better about updating you on all the things the boys have been doing. There's been a lot and I fear that I'll forget most of it if I don't write it down RIGHT NOW.
Trevin is at that really fun, yet really difficult age. He says new and crazy things constantly and continues to amaze us with what he knows and understands, yet, at the same time, he has the capacity to drive us insane.
When he is not refusing to nap, throwing a mini-tantrum in the grocery store, or whining for the entire 30 minute car ride home, he is warming our hearts with his sweet personality and fun sense of humor. He's coming up with new phrases all the time (or really just copying them). Lately, he's been saying "mm hmm" after any question he asks, or saying things like "thanks for the tasty waffle" or "tha's cool." We're teaching him manners and he now asks "I be 'scuuused?" before leaving the table after a meal or says "thank you" when someone says "I love you, Trevin."
He's getting ready to potty train and we can tell this because he will often tell us before he poops in his diaper that he has to go. We will take him to the potty to try and have yet to have any success there. Once we put the diaper back on, the deed is done. We're not really forcing it because, honestly, we're not sure we have the energy, though now that he's showing some readiness, we will probably get serious about it soon.
One thing we did get serious about was the binky. It was time to say good-bye to the beloved bink last week. Trevin never slept without that thing. To aid in this transition, I bought a build-a-bear pack from Costco that came with materials to build two different stuffed animals. I decided that we would bury the bink inside one of the stuffed animals and have Trevin be a part of the process. It sort of worked. Trevin didn't have too much trouble going to sleep without the bink, though he refused to sleep with his new stuffed dog, "Binks." I guess Binks sort of stole Trevin's binky, so I suppose I can understand...
Below is a picture of Binks. From the front, he's pretty cute, right? But look at his back and it appears that Binks experienced something quite unfortunate. Well, that, or it's just a very ill-placed brown spot on his back...(and I did not notice this, count on Bryce to point something like that out!)
And here's just a cute picture of a boy and his daddy. Trevin loves his new playroom, whether he's dancing in it to some sweet Christmas tunes or just reading a story with daddy.
