On Monday, Trevin and I decided to head out to Costco and Home Depot. He's finally been feeling better and was in good spirits. I knew it was going to be a good day.
Right now, Costco already has a ridiculous amount of Christmas stuff. Though I guess it's already that time of year. Man, that came fast! As we perused the aisles of toys, Trevin saw a GeoTrax Disney Cars set. Let me first say that Trevin does not watch tv yet. Yes, he sometimes will watch if I have the tv on during the day or if we're at a friend's house and there's a kid's movie on. He may spend a grand total of a minute or two looking at the screen. However, we never intentionally put him in front of the tv. We're waiting until he's two for any of that. So, that said, we see the Cars thing. He immediately leans out of the cart, making the face you see below and saying "hooohhhh...car? car?" We looked at it for a bit, then went on our merry way. There was no fussing, just looking. I loved it.
After Costco, we headed over to Home Depot. While there, I was looking for paint colors for Trevin's bedroom. You'll have to wait for pictures of that to come! (It may be awhile...) Anyway, across from the paint swatches was a small display of Disney decals, including Cars. He was not confined to the cart for this stop, so he promptly walked over to it (the display was conveniently at his level...) and began looking at all the Cars decals. It must be my hormones or something, but watching him do that made me tear up. I knelt down next to him and watched him try to figure these things out. It was so sweet, yet I wondered how my son had suddenly become so in tune to all this "stuff."
Before we left Home Depot, we stopped by the display of Christmas globes and the silly singing stuffed animals. The guy in the paint department told me I had to take him over there to check them out, so I did. We spent some time turning on the snow globes and watching Snoopy hold a flashing snowflake. Christmas music played and Trevin danced to it and smiled.
Melt.my.heart.
I am SO excited for Christmas with him this year. How quickly it went from bows, boxes, and wrapping paper, to actually caring about the packages inside them. I love it. And I know he's growing up fast, but I love it. It makes me smile.
