| Trevin's "hat hair"...at least that's what Bryce told me it was. I was gone on my girls' weekend and I think the boys just went a little crazy. :-) |
Lately, I've been working on teaching Trevin to be kind to his brother. While Tyson is definitely the instigator at times, Trevin does the fair share of hitting, pushing, and yelling. With talks, timeouts, and even spankings when necessary, I think T is starting to get it. Today, when Tyson started playing with T's garbage truck, instead of yanking it out of Ty's hand and yelling, he looked at Tyson and said, "Tyson, don't play with my big truck. I have it please?" Oh, sweet boy. Later in the afternoon, Tyson messed with Trevin's line-up of cars in the playroom. Instead of pushing, Trevin stood by and yelled "Oh no! Tyson don't!" This may not sound wonderful, but it is a huge improvement. Most previous responses would have ended with Tyson screaming.
Trevin has been OBSESSED with trucks and trailers lately. At a MOMS leadership meeting at church a couple of months ago, he found a toy white semi truck. It was all he talked about for the next month. Any time we'd leave for church he'd ask if he could play with the "big white trader (trailer)." When we'd say "no" because it was not in his usual classroom, he would whimper and whine and fuss. He was almost over the "big white trader" when we went to a MOMS meeting again and he got to play with it again. Oh the excitement. It was the first thing he found in the classroom and he held tight to it for the entire two hours he was there.
When Bryce came home from work the next day, he had a surprise for T. It was a black big truck with a trailer. That kid is in love with his trailer. He keeps calling it things like "wonderful trailer," or "beautiful"...like, "Hey Tyson, you want to play with my wonderful big truck?" or "This is my trader. It's beautiful."
Love my boy. He makes me laugh and makes me proud.
