When we arrived at the hotel (that was right on the water, I might add) on Friday night, Angela went inside to check us in. A few minutes later she came out to the car, "Okay, I've got some good news and bad news...bad news - they gave away our room with two queen beds, good news - they upgraded us to a suite!" Woo hoo! We were going to be living it up in a way nicer room...we thought.
When we arrived at our room, there was one king bed in the bedroom, and a hide-a-bed sofa in the living area. The waterfront view we had paid for originally was not quite a waterfront view. Kendall felt that since they gave away our original room, that we should go ask for another room with at least a better view. Nicole and I volunteered to sleep on the hide-a-bed and said it would be fine. Kendall and Ang did not agree. Thank goodness for that, because...
Kendall and Ang went back downstairs to ask for a different room. When they came back up, they had keys to a new room, the same type of suite we were currently in, but on a different floor and at a different angle facing the water. Well, the view was probably a little worse than what we had before because of some solar panel thing right outside our balcony. We decided to just leave it, after all, it was probably technically a better view, and we didn't want to cause problems.
A few minutes later, one of the front desk workers comes to our room to tell us that we cannot, in fact, stay in this room because someone will be checking into it the next day. So, up we go, following him to our new bedroom. As he's walking us down the hall, he tells us that they will be bringing us a roll-away bed, in addition to what's already in the room. He also says that they'd like to comp us some wine or snacks for the evening. As a group, we're not HUGE wine drinkers, and with a preggo on board, the snacks sounded a bit more appealing. Sweet deal! We arrive to the room and find ourselves in a room with a nice view and one.king.bed. No suite, no hide-a-bed. Hmmm. Okay, this was not going to work. None of us were planning on sharing a king bed with two other girls. SO, Ang, being the trooper she was, went back downstairs.
This time, she got to talk to the manager, Paul. He apologized profusely, and said they would be finding something for us. Soon after, Ang was back up at our room, as was Paul. He was ready to escort us to our new, apparently "very nice" suite. In fact, he said it was one of the best rooms in the hotel. Cool! We followed him down the hall to our room. When we got there, he knocked on the door. A little weird, we thought. Then he opened it, only to find a man, probably in his 60s, still in the room. "Oh, I am SO sorry!" Paul says to the man. "I thought you checked out already." "No, not until Saturday. But you've got four young ladies with you? I'll take them!" the man says with a laugh. We all laugh, too, as this man didn't seem like a creep, just a flirt. Paul then escorted us back down to the lobby, head down the entire way.
We sat in the lobby for about a half hour while Paul worked things out. Finally, he came and told us he had a room for us. Again, he said it was one of the best rooms in the place. He took us op to our room. Indeed, it was gorgeous. It had a beautiful view and was quite big. It had two bathrooms (a major plus for four girls vacationing together), a dining area, bedroom with a king bed, hide-a-bed in the living area, and they brought us a roll-away. On top of that, we would also be receiving complimentary snacks in the evening AND, as Paul was showing us the view, he offered us a free tour of Lake Washington on the hotel's sailboat (which we accepted, but ended up not taking, basically due to bad timing).
So all in all, we ended up doing quite well for the room situation. For a room that cost $375 (I think) a night, plus room service, we paid basically $250. Pretty sweet deal.
The rest of our weekend was spent basically doing what girls do when they're together - talking lots, shopping, eating out, going to the movies, and imagining what our weekends will be like when we're 60. It was a great weekend with great girlfriends!
Here are some pics, some are courtesy of Kendall...thanks girlie!
Yummy! Those strawberries and chocolate were delicious.
Nicole and I on the tall chairs. If you only knew how many takes Nicole and I have needed in the past to get good pictures of us together. This was only the second one I think, and it turned out pretty cute! Maybe, as we get older, we're getting better at smiling and keeping our eyes open for the camera...
Kendall and Angela on the tall chairs this time.
Kendall's observation of this photo was that we are all laughing the way we always laugh when we're together - Nicole with her head up, me with my head down and shaking (normally because of something outlandish that's been said), and Ang covering her mouth. I thought that was a cute observation, so I included this picture.

Such fun! You are blessed to have such a great group of gals to vacation with!
How much fun is that??!! So glad you got to do something fun like that. I too, just spent a girls' weekend scrapbooking with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law and a friend of theirs. We had a blast! I scrapped 20 pages!
I LOVE that you guys do this! I have a group of friends to which we all said we ought to commit to meeting like that, but we never had. That is way cool!
Do you guys all live relatively close? Or do some of you really have to travel to make it happen? I hoep you will always be able to do this with your friends!
We all live relatively close. Two are in the same part of the state, one is further east, and I'm the southern one, so not too far. It's so nice to be able to do a trip like that every summer!
i'm so glad you were able to get away with your girls!
