Lots of little things to write about this week. Thought I'd share a few for your reading enjoyment.
Yesterday, Bryce and I took his little brother (through the Big Brother Big Sister program) on a hike at Battle Ground Lake. It was nice for me to finally meet him. I was surprised at how polite he was. Bryce had mentioned that he's gotten into a bit of trouble at school and I wasn't sure what to expect from this 14 year old. He was very nice and kind of funny. He liked to talk, and I could tell he was a little nervous because he talked A LOT and kept saying the word "actually," like "I really like your house, actually" or "Trevin is pretty big, actually" or "where is the park, actually?" At our house, he asked me if I knew where the bathroom was, then he stopped himself and said "oh, that was a stupid question." We just laughed. I thought he was very sweet. I could also tell that he really likes Bryce. He kept talking about how he and Bryce have been "together" for 3 months and about how Bryce taught him how to play disc golf and he kind of liked it, but wasn't very good. He also did not want to get out of the car when we dropped him off at his apartment. He kept thinking of new questions to ask while we were parked in the parking lot, as he was opening the door to go. When he did leave, he turned around to wave at us twice. It was a nice day and I hope we can have a few more days like that. It will be neat to see the difference Bryce can make in this boy's life.

I don't think I've ever mentioned on my blog that Trevin has been doing physical therapy. He's been going once a week for the last month. Long story short, he is a little behind in gross motor development. We had him evaluated and were surprised when he barely qualified (we didn't think he would qualify at all). So, I've been taking him to physical therapy on Fridays. I was really hesitant, thinking it was going to be a waste of time and that he really didn't need it. I have to say, I have actually been pleased with the results. First of all, Trevin LOVES going. It's like having playtime, but with all these cool mats, trampolines, and things to climb on. Second, he has made great strides since starting therapy. His therapist even said that she was impressed with how quickly he is learning new things. He can basically stand on his own now, as of Friday. He's even trying to take steps, but I think he's getting a little bit ahead of himself. It's so much fun to see these changes and to know I'm taking him to a place he loves that's helping him at the same time.

I started a Beth Moore study a couple of weeks ago called The Patriarchs: Encountering the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It's a pretty intensive study, but I am getting some good things from it so far. It's amazing how God can speak to us, even through His words in the Old Testament. I'm enjoying connecting with the other women from the study, too.

As I'm writing this, Trevin is still awake. And it is 10:53 pm. What the heck?! He NEVER does this and I am trying to figure out what's wrong. He cries uncontrollably when we put him in his crib and has continued to cry for the 20 minute stretches that we leave him in there to cry it out. We can't figure out if he's just WAY overtired, if he's sick, or what. His usual bedtime is between 8 and 8:30...
On that note, I better go. Not quite the best night for blogging...

Have you read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child? We got it, and sleep times have gone SO much better! The only time we have problems now is when he is over-tired/hyper or when teething. Hope Trevin is doing better and it was a one night fluke :)
