Remembering "When"esday

Does that title make sense? Or does it just look stupid?

So my idea is to remember a small tidbit from my past and blog about it on Wednesdays. Maybe I can come up with a better name for the posts. Any ideas? For now, I'll just settle for my inherited knack for a silly play on words. Thanks for that skill, dad! ;)

So today, I'm remembering when...

I started kindergarten at my grandparents' Lutheran church. My family lived with them for a year while my dad was looking for a head football coaching job at a high school.

I remember being so excited to start and my mom sewing me some new jumpers to wear to school. This one, I believe, had bunnies and carrots patterned on it. I also had a very cool tin lunch box with Annie on it (I think the movie had just come out at the time).

Kindergarten was a fun year. Mrs. Williams was my teacher and we did some fun things in her class. For Mother's Day, we made recipe card holders for our moms. The recipe I chose to put in my mom's card holder was for corn dogs. I thought those things were delicious, but I had NO IDEA how to make them. Bet that recipe was a winner!

Kindergarten was also the year I learned how to do my own hair. I learned how to french braid (I think my mom showed me how) and pretty much always did my own hair after that. This resulted in some very lovely hairstyles over the years...and you may be lucky enough to see them in future posts.

I LOVE the title, super cute idea! You were such an adorable kid! I hope to see our purses made out of a pair of jeans make the cut...

I love the idea. I've been wanting to do the same, but don't have a scanner at home. (Yes, my husband works for HP....go figure.)

I love that you remember your recipe, and started to do your own hair. Even french braids! I think I was in high school before I could french braid my own hair! Anna is five and does her own hair now too. I wonder if she'll remember that.

I like the title, but how 'bout "When"sday (just take out that 'e' beside the 's'. I was pronouncing it when I read it the way you have it. Just a thought :-)
