Remembering "When"sday

Today, I'm remembering when...

I loved pink. Okay, wait, maybe not that, but obviously, I liked it. Anyway, moving on...

First picture - I was in first grade. We had moved out of my grandparents' house and I was now attending a Catholic school. We wore uniforms to school - blue plaid jumpers. But on picture day, it was (optional) free dress day! So, I decided to wear my lovely pink shirt and shorts (and this time, I think I had my mom do my hair...you know, for picture day). As my class was lined up for the group picture, Father _____ (I don't remember his name) walked in and studied the group of kids. As his eyes came upon me in my pink outfit he said, "Let's try and wear a little more blue next time." I wish I could find my class picture to illustrate how I really did stand out like a sore thumb beautiful rose in a sea of blue and white.

Next picture (exhibit B of ugly hair) - I was the only girl on my basketball team in the YMCA league. This was true for the next 3 years that I played, too. I remember being SO excited when I was old enough to play. I'm sure I was not very good, but I remember having fun. I think I always managed to have a crush on one of the boys on my team, too. I mean seriously, how could they resist me in my pink shorts and shoes?
